Fishing

Fishing is one of the most popular activities in Alta and the entire Finnmark region. Unfortunately, salmon fishing in the Alta River is heavily regulated and permits must be obtained already in winter. Salmon fishing season is from 1.6. til 30.8.

For sea trout fishing in the first two weeks of September, it is also possible to obtain permits on site, from a company in our neighborhood. More information about fishing in the Alta River can be found at www.altalaks.no.

There are also other salmon and trout rivers in the vicinity, for which permits are more easily available, e.g. Eiby river.

With a Finnmark inland water permit, you can fish freely in almost all rivers and lakes in the county, except for salmon-rich waters. You can obtain a fishing permit online. Read more about inland water fishing on www.fefo.no.
